Rule 33: changing the next leg

When race officials or mark layers change the next leg of the course, the Racing Rules of Sailing require:

"The signal shall be the display of flag C with repetitive sounds and one or both of the following: (a) a compass bearing indicating the direction to the new mark, or (b) a green triangular flag or board or a red rectangular flag or board to indicate that the mark has been moved to starboard or to port."RRS Rule 33

Is it suitable for use on boats?
Yes. The Stainless Steel Handheld Fog Horn for Boats is made from marine-grade 304 stainless steel, which is fully rust-proof and ideal for marine environments. The loud blast is designed to cut through wind and wave noise, ensuring you’re always heard.
Do I need a horn for a race start?
In races: the start sequence in the Racing Rules of Sailing (rule 26) uses flags together with sound signals, one sound for the warning, preparatory and starting signals and one long sound at one minute. A horn is loud enough for the whole fleet to hear it over wind and waves.

In emergencies: this fog horn is much louder than a standard whistle and carries over a greater distance.
Does it work when wet?

Is a fog horn the same as a boat horn?
